downloadSince its the month of the Irish and St. Patty’s Day, OOT decided to feature one of the best Irish pubs around, Currans Irish Inn! Just a hop, skip and jump from Northeast Philly and you are there, located at 1909 Bristol Pike in Bensalem, PA! This place is off the hook; super friendly staff, great atmosphere and great food too. They have entertainment throughout the week, super drink and food specials that you won’t be able to resist! Every Monday is All-U-Can-Eat Snow Crabs for just $21.95, Every Tuesday its All-U-Can-Eat Mussels in White or Red Sauce for just $8.95. Wednesdays you can get “Pudgy’s Wings” for just 35 cents each-in Hot, Mild, Medium, Cajun, Garlic/Parmesan, Plain or with Barbeque! Every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday you can order from their scrumptious Seafood Menu and Curran’s now offers a kid’s menu served with Skinny Fries-all under $4.00….can’t beat that!

I mentioned Pudgy, if you haven’t met, Pudgy is Curran’s Chef, the main guy-the guy with the special sauce! He is the creator of the menu and does his magic over at the Tacony location in Philly; then his creations are delivered to the other locations in Bensalem and in Palmyra, New Jersey. I met Line Cooks, Matt and Billy both have been with Currans for a long time and seem to really love what they do. You can tell, by the way they prepare the food and the taste….well…..its good, real good!
My guest and I were greeted by our Waitress, Shannon, who was spot on all night and handled all the diners on her own with ease and with a smile. We started off with a bowl of Spicy Crab Soup for $4.75 and the French Onion Soup for $4.95. The Spicy Crab Soup was very hearty with a touch of “hot”, filled with chunks of vegetables and chunks of Crabmeat. The French Onion Soup was made with a little wine, seasoned just right and topped with melted Provolone and Parmesan Cheese. Delicious and a great start to our meal. For an appetizer we shared “Pudgy’s Wing Sampler” for just $12.95 you get 10 wings with your choice of any 3 flavors! We choose the Medium Hot, the Garlic/Parmesan and the Cajun wings. The Garlic and Cajun wings were made with a dry rub and they were simply the best. Really! These wings were perfectly seasoned and you can also get them for Take-Out too from 10 to 100 Wings! No wonder they were voted “Best of Philly’s Wings” by the Philadelphia Magazine. For our entrees I choose the BBQ Baby Back Ribs. Now I know what “Pudgy’s Puttin on the Ribz” means! Homemade and Charboiled is definitely their specialty! They come with mashed potatoes or fries, a side of Baked Beans and a sample of their famous Cucumber Salad. The Ribs were so delicate the meat fell off the bone. The sauce of course is Secret but I will tell you it’s Sweet and Tangy all at once! You can get it with Extra Large Shrimp too. They come in a 1/2 Rack (Eve) $16.95, Full Rack (Adam) $20.95, or the Goliath which is 1 1/2 Racks for just $3.00 more! And my guest could not resist Curran’s fantastic sandwiches and ordered up the BBQ Pork Sandwich with French Fries for just $7.95. It was so big that she had to cut it just to take a bite! lol! Slowly simmered and cooked to perfection and in the same Sweet and Tangy sauce base as the ribs. YUMM! And for the first time ever, there was no room for dessert! We were stuffed and had leftovers to take home too! They do offer a dessert of cheesecake if you can fit it in!

For St. Patty’s Day-Get Your Irish On with the Syndi Raymond Band and order a Ham & Cabbage Platter and a Pint of Guiness for just $6.00! Check their website for other fun events and specials for all three locations at www.curransirishinn.com. Come on out and find out for yourself why Curran’s Irish Inn is HOT! HOT! HOT!
