chickies-and-petes-crab-fries-600Of course I have been to Chickie’s & Pete’s lots of times and always have a great time! So when Mikey V. asked me to do a dining out at the Boulevard location in NE Philly-I was very excited. I finally was gonna try “Lisa’s Blonde Lobster Pie” (White Lobster Pizza)! Can you imagine? Big chunks of lobster meat baked on a white pizza- it literally melted in my mouth with each bite! It’s Bon Jovi’s favorite pie and now its mine!

And that’s not all! First and foremost, the staff there was absolutely hands down wonderful. Friendly, personable, and can I say….I was treated like a Queen- and so was my guest! We started out with their soup at just $5.50 each. My guest had the Crabfries Bisque….a cream based soup with dices of potato, carrot, bacon and it was topped off with their World Famous Crab Fries. She picked the right soup for herself- cause the one I chose was the Seafood Chowder and it was off the hook (so to speak). It was a tomato-based soup with spices, big cuts of red potatoes, jumbo shrimp, baby clams and mussels. Good to the last drop!

Because their menu has so many wonderful choices, we found it difficult to decide what we wanted to try. So we asked for small samples of their dishes but Chickie’s & Pete’s don’t do anything small. They brought dish after dish of huge portions of some of their favorite new items and classics! Of course we could not resist their World Famous Crabfries served with 2 sides of their creamy cheese sauce! Then came the sandwiches-all made with fresh ingredients and home-made Italian rolls. Chickie’s Cutlet Italian-this sandwich priced at just $7.00 was fantastic and so delicious. The lightly breaded chicken breast cutlet was cooked to perfection! It was topped with melted provolone cheese and roasted red peppers. It was simply tantalizing.

Next sample…..memorized by the name “Magooby”, I knew we just had to try this! Filled with pickles, onions, crab fries, melted cheese and shrimp all on one sandwich ($7.00)-its cold and hot at the same time. And yes it is very “ma-goowy” so get extra napkins! It is worth every bite. So on to the next “daring” selection…Lobster Cheese Steak ($13.00). Yes, I said Lobster, and it’s the real thing. Fresh chunks of lobster meat on top of Philly’s famous sliced beef sirloin with creamy cheese sauce. And the consensus is …it’s an aquired taste. My guest liked it wit cheese I- wit-out! After tasting the left-overs, my daughter’s opinion was “It’s great with ketchup”. You will have to decide for yourself! Then our wonderful server enticed us into trying their Classic dish- a heaping bowl of Mussels in their (Nationally Acclaimed) Red Sauce ($11.00). The sauce is fantastic; great for dipping the bread. The mussels were delicate and soft with just the right seasoning! No wonder Chickie’s & Pete’s Mussels are Award Winning (South Philly’s People Choice Award 6 years in a row!)

Barely able to finish to completion- any of the servings sent to us, the staff happily wrapped up the leftovers for my guest and I to enjoy probably for the rest of the week at home! While dining we met several other diners who were also very happily engaged in their food, the sports game of the day, and simply enjoying a day out at Chickie’s & Pete’s. And now you can get your favorite food at Chickie’s and Pete’s on the boardwalk in Wildwood and in Dorney Park Wildwater Kingdom. OOT_3309-Print_Page_01Located in the Kinghts Road Shopping Center at 4050 Woodhaven Raod is the home of Joe Santucci’s Bar & Grill. There is a unique tradition on going here which I will share with you about this family run business that dates back to 1959. For well over 50 years Santucci’s Square Pizza has been a big hit in Phila., and this traditon is kept alive by Joe Santucci Jr. It all began with Joe’s Dad who came up with an idea and changed the Pizza business forever. His idea was the introduction of a family recipe for pizza made the real Italian way, by placing the cheese on the bottom and sauce on top, add in a unique baking technique and also a distinctive square shape thus the Santucci square Pizza was born. You will not find a better tasting pizza anywhere else. This became a big hit and today, it is still the best in our region. So good that Philly Magazine has given them the Best of Philly award two times. The also have had over the years many articles published on their food and unigue style.

Santucci’s today is in a new location and offers a variety of pizzas, stromboli, hot and cold sandwiches, pasta .and add in their extensive menu. Prices are really that good and the portions are big. For the traditional pizza they only use fresh dough made daily with only the finest mozzarella cheese and – top that off with their family recipe >the sauce.

Santuccis can boast about their late night menu that is available to 2am. When you talk about night time and late night, they are open 7 days and nights a week. The bar has weekly and daily specials and they also have a happy hour from 4pm to 6pm. Some of the entertainment is: Bar Bingo on tuesdays with host DJ Franny Mac from 8pm to 11pm. Quizzo on wednesdays from 7:30pm to 10:30pm, with weekly prizes. Every thursday Dj Franny Mac with Martini thursdays and friday and saturday nights a Dj and dance party. All sports at Santuccis is one of the biggest favorites and they offer Phillies game day Bud and Bud Light Drafts for $2.50. Each month they also have – live acoustic music. Santucci’s is just a fun place for food, family and friends. You can also order online now at: ; Visit Santucci’s this week and see what Joe Jr., and his wife Nadine and kids Joseph lll and Natalie Philomena have waiting for you > Family, tradition with pride and doing it all for your enjoyment. by Crabby-Patty-Pat Kozlowski

DSCF0960For Rich Sites, it all began with a “dirty” crab. And by dirty, we mean a crab pulled right out of the pot and served, letting the eater do all the work and cleaning. Some people prefer their crabs dirty, they like the taste of the crab meat seasoned with, well-what my dad used to tell us was mustard, but the smell and the taste proved otherwise.
About five years ago, Sites was told the best place to eat crabs in Philly was a place called Bonk’s Bar, in the shadow of I-95 in Port Richmond along the busy Richmond Street. When Sites finally found the bar and saw the outside, he thought he was lost, it wasn’t much to look at. Inside wasn’t much better, with sticky floor, mismatched tables and chairs, a neverending loop of 3 Stooges shorts on the TV, Sites had his doubts but when he was served, he knew he found the best place to eat crabs in Philly.

Bonk’s Bar was a legend, not only in the Port Richmond riverwards, but in the City. A place where you could get the handmade and formed Mom-burger, a dozen pick and peel shrimp, pulled out of the hot steam bath of Old Bay and other secret spices and served on a paper plate with kick-ass cocktail sauce and yes, those crabs. Cleaned or dirty, the crabs came out on a cafeteria style tray with a boil of steaming crab juice that had more people guessing the ingredients than JFK’s assassins.
When you went to Bonk’s for crabs, you wore a t-shirt you didn’t mind getting dirty and you always remembered to not only wash your hands after going to the bathroom, but more importantly-before. The crab juice was spicy and addictive.
So when the landmark of Bonk’s went on the real estate market, Sites knew this is the bar he wanted. Not only did he buy the property, but he bought the name and that crab recipe too.
He bought the bar in October 2007 and made some changes but just like the crab recipe, he keep the things that mattered most.
Tin ceilings used t o be synonymous with corner tap rooms back in the day, and Sites took notice and appreciated the copper colored tin ceiling that enclosed Bonk’s Bar. After a much needed cleaning and painting, the tin ceiling, with well placed soffit lighting, is back in all its glory. And over his dead body, he was not getting rid of the bar.
Handcarved wood and stained a dark cherry, the bar at Bonk’s is the epitome of an old fashion watering hole, a shot and a beer place, a bar that you could drink at.
The sign outside still reeks of old school advertising-Bonk’s Bar written in blue on a illuminated white sign, and of course, a silhouette of a crab.
And that is where the nostalgia stops. Sites plowed through the rest of the bar, breaking through and opening up the dining area to meet the bar and then tackled the menu, knowing that even though he had the best damned crabs in Philly-and the secret recipe to the crab juice-he’d still need some accompaniments.
“I know what I like-good food, so that’s where I started,” he said. With an Italian mother who always fed her boy and a stint working at Monticinni’s Pizza, Sites added a butter and garlic sauteed crab to the menu.
When Bonk’s crabs meet Mama Site’s recipe in a hot sautee pan full of fresh garlic, extra virgin olive oil and plenty of melted butter, the smell drifts out to the bar and heads turn toward the kitchen doors. The same with their popular crab bisque-which doesn‘t have a glamorous backstory, but has a huge following, making it one of their best sellers.
“We found a basic crab bisque recipe on the internet,” the always bandannaed Sites admits. “So we started with that and kept tweaking it, adding some more spice and cream until we loved the taste.” So do customers. Even though its advertised on the menu board, even without the sign the bowls of the terra cotta colored bisque with a side of crusty bread move out of the kitchen.
Bonk’s now serves all their sandwiches, from their roasted pork, roast beef, Philly cheesesteaks on seeded rolls and bread. The roast beef is served with a drinkable au jus and their roast pork with sharp provolone and hot peppers gets topped with the best horseradish in the world-Zayda’s, a locally made brand that gets peddled the old fashion way by Steve “The Pickleman” who still goes bar to bar selling the condiment that makes eyes water and cocktail sauce worth a double dip of the shrimp.

Since opening his bar, the kitchen plays around with specials, this summer popular appetizers are buffalo chicken dip, pierogies and pork pot stickers in an Asian soy sauce. But its apparent the crowd comes for the crabs, always did and always will.
Yep, this ain’t your daddy’s Bonk’s Bar, but with the way things are going, the old man just might take a likening to it.

Bonk’s Bar, 3467 Richmond Street at Tioga Street, 215-634-9927

pasianopic1Growing up with an Italian background has allowed me many fond memories to look back on. Lots of family, friends, good times and the food! Nothing says home more to me, than a Sunday afternoon filled with the aroma of a pot of delicious gravy and meatballs simmering on the stove for hours. That’s right – I called it GRAVY! Lasagna, ravioli, spaghetti – use whatever pasta you want, but the star of the dish is always the gravy! Fresh, flavorful Italian cooking – there’s just nothing like it.

There were a few years there when I wouldn’t even bother to go out for Italian food. In my eyes, NO ONE made gravy like my mom (well, other than my Grandmother, of course!). Over the years however, I have come to realize there are some great places out there where you can enjoy authentic Italian dishes and one of them is Pasiano’s! Pasiano’s is a wonderful BYOB located at 7100 Tulip Street at the corner of Princeton and Tulip in NE Philadelphia.

Last night, my guest and I enjoyed an incredible dinner at Pasiano’s. I met with owner/proprietor John Byrne and thought, “Hmm an Irish guy running an Italian restaurant, this should be interesting,” and it truly was! You can’t miss the building as you ride down Princeton Ave – its stucco front with classic awnings and balcony on the side really make the building stand out. You can just tell that once you walk through the door, you are going to be part of something special. As you walk in, immediately you feel the warmth of Old World Italy. There are lovely murals painted on the walls, linen tablecloths and beautiful accent pieces that give the room a comfortable elegance, all its own. The music of Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Tony Bennett and many others fill the room with just enough background sound to help you relax and get ready for some delicious food.

John and his brother Tom treated us like royalty. They already had a table set up for us and made menu suggestions so that we didn’t even have to choose from the wide variety of dishes they serve. Pasiano’s is a BYOB and since I was working, I didn’t bother to bring any wine to drink with dinner, so Tom was gracious enough to pour a glass from their own stock. Great service and attention to detail is something Pasiano’s is becoming known for, in addition to great food. They made us feel so comfortable and welcome while still paying attention to all of their other guests. As I looked through the menu, I could see this was not the ordinary Italian restaurant, serving the ordinary dishes you see everywhere. They offer everything from Salads and Pasta to Seafood, Steaks and Chops and the prices are extremely reasonable. The appetizers range in price from $6 to $12 and the entrees run anywhere from $10 to $28. The portions are quite generous too. We started off with some appetizers which included the Lobster Macaroni & Cheese, Crab Bruschetta and a Caprese Salad. Let me start by saying everything was absolutely delicious! I have never had Lobster Macaroni & Cheese in my life, and this dish was truly a winner. Made with home-made Orrecchiette pasta, big chunks of lobster meat, Pecorino Romano cheese and just enough Jalapeno peppers to give it a slight bite, this dish was more like an entree that would please just about anyone. The Crab Bruschetta was equally delicious with a creamy crab spread topping fresh toasted bread with a delightful basil pesto. The Caprese salad was so fresh with ruby red tomatoes and creamy whole mozzarella cheese drizzled with olive oil and their own balsamic reduction that just melted in your mouth. The pasta course was Gnocchi with a fresh Tomato and Basil sauce and Penne Vodka. Both were absolutely delicious. By the time the meat course was served, I was already full, but they brought out 3 dishes that looked so incredible, of course I had to indulge! Chicken Puttanesca, Veal Anthony and Pasiano’s famous Broiled Crab Cake with Champagne sauce were all equally divine. The Puttanesca sauce on the chicken absolutely popped from the freshness of the tomatoes, olives and capers. The veal was topped with fresh asparagus and huge meaty shrimp that were like a meal of their own! The Crab Cake (Ohhhh the Crab Cake!)…it was loaded with what seemed to be nothing but crab and seasoning. In fact, I don’t think I have ever had a crab cake with so much crab in it. It was sweet and flavorful and absolutely delicious. For dessert, we shared a piece of Lemoncello Cheesecake that was creamy and completely decadent! It was the perfect ending to a wonderful meal.
As I sat and talked with the Byrne boys, I learned that Pasiano’s all came about after John was sitting at a light on Princeton Ave. He saw the vacant building and thought it would make a great place for a BYOB. The Byrne’s grew up in the neighborhood and even went to school at Our Lady of Constellations, which is right across the street. John spoke to the owner of the building and they worked out a deal. After they made all the renovations to make Pasiano’s the beautiful place that it is today, the surrounding neighborhood was very pleased with the result. Pasiano’s brings an elegance and family-friendly location to the neighborhood, without having to concern residents with the thought of another bar on the corner. Families, friends, civic groups, clubs, businessmen and women can enjoy all that Pasiano’s has to offer, which even includes a private banquet room upstairs for parties, showers and meetings. The banquet room is the perfect spot for any function, comfortably seating up to 50 people. It’s completely separate from the rest of the building giving guests an elegant and private setting away from people dining in the main part of the building. It’s even got its own lovely balcony, bar and private restroom to add even more functionality to the room. Private parties can be planned as a buffet or sit down dinner and John will work with you to personalize a menu that will truly “WOW” your guests!

Everything about Pasiano’s is wonderful. All of the food is fresh and home- made by Chef Oscar, who lived in Rome for much of his life. All of the ingredients used in their dishes are bought locally and this is something that John stressed. “We only buy fresh, local ingredients. I spend most of my day buying only the best for our customers. It’s a labor of love and my customers deserve it.” Pasiano’s is a place that creates memories for people. Its Tuscan warmth is the perfect setting for family dinners with a nice bottle of wine, talking and laughing in to the night. You will surely enjoy your experience at Pasiano’s and I highly recommend you try it as soon as possible. This is a place that will make you feel as though you are visiting one of the nice restaurants you would see downtown on a special occasion, yet its right here in NE Philly. What a pleasant and unexpected surprise!

Reservations are recommended for Pasiano’s on the weekends by calling 215-338-1700, especially if you plan on dining between the regular dinner hours of 5 – 7 pm. They will be closed the first week of August for vacation and they are also closed on Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Eve. There is reserved parking right in front of the building and its easy access to all points since it is so close to I-95. To view the menu and to learn more about Pasiano’s, please visit Mangiare!

(Please note: The correct pronunciation is Pas-i-an’-os – not to be confused with Paesano’s)

As I took my place at one of the spacious window seat tables, the first sight to catch my eye was the generously stocked brew shelf. Dog and Bull offers a selection of thirty craft beers and maintains twelve rotating taps. For those who like to stick with what they know, don’t worry–they’re still pouring several of the “classics”. However, there is certainly a specialty to please the palate of any craft beer connoisseur.
While talking with some of the Dog and Bull patrons, I expressed my curiosity about how the name Dog and Bull came about. I found my answer. Located on Surrey Street in Croydon, England is a 400-year-old traditional pub named Dog and Bull. It is most simply stated, a place “with character to welcome everybody”: Quite a perfect namesake for this Croydon, Pa hometown pub, with its welcoming atmosphere and “a little something for everybody” attitude.
“A little something for everybody” includes the variety of musical talent that Dog and Bull embraces. I had the opportunity to attend open mic night, which is held every Tuesday from 8 p.m. until 12 a.m. What a pleasure to hear such a vast musical selection of all genres, which included cover songs as well as the performers’ original work; a musical flavor for everyone. Dog and Bull has an ear for music, bringing in some of the area’s best acoustic acts for your listening enjoyment. This eclectic venue has captured the local community with its fresh environment, offering a change of pace from the norm.

RhawnhurstNew owners have made remarkable improvements to this neighborhood cafe, located on Castor and Rhawn Avenues, in the heart of Northeast Philadelphia. The Rhawnhurst is newly renovated and the menu has been totally re-vamped and streamlined.  Still a neighborhood favorite with its bar area, flat screen televisions, bar fare menu, daily drink and beer specials and The Best FRIDAY AFTER-WORK PARTY around, with DJ music all nite long. And Saturday nights they have Karaoke too! During Phillies games, from pitch to pitch get $4.00 domestic pitchers, 50 cent wings and $2.50 Domestic bottles! Now The Rhawnhurst is quickly becoming known for its great restaurant; attracting happy diners from the suburbs and surrounding neighborhoods-and its all because of its fabulous food and new look! The newly renovated dining area is like sitting in a center city restaurant but without the hassle of being stuck in traffic and without the high end prices. The area is now separated by doors, even the walls can be completely enclosed for your dining pleasure. Rich hardwood floors, fans now hang from the wood paneled ceiling, and the recessed lighting adds to the nice ambience.  I found it very unique that the walls are lined with artwork from neighborhood artists, who want to showcase their work. I was told that a few pieces have been sold and one artist was offered a show of their own. Equipped with its own sound system, this area is also available for private parties like Communions, Graduation Parties, Rehearsal Dinners, Birthday Parties, and any other special occasion. Catering for up to 100 guests, starting from just $9.95.  Executive Chef, Christian, knows what he is doing with over 25 years of experience creating his specialties at many high end, fine dining restaurants and steakhouses.  He has now brought his expertise to this neighborhood spot and from the expressions of the many diners on this Wednesday evening; I believe the Rhawnhurst may become one your favorite spots to dine as well.  Everything is home-made, the pizza dough/bread/rolls are freshly baked from scratch, they hand-cut their own steaks and fish, grind their own meat for burgers; all high quality ingredients and lots of love goes into to every item that comes out of his kitchen. The menu is totally streamlined offering Appetizers ranging from $4.00 to $9.00, with French Onion Soup, a variety of Salads, Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes, Scallops and more. From “The Grill”, you can get your choice of House, BBQ, Cajun, or Lemon Pepper for entrees ranging from a Full Rack of Pork Ribs ($17.00) to their scrumptious 14 oz. Boneless Rib eye ($18.00), or their 8 oz. Ahi Tuna ($16.00). They also offer grilled Salmon Filet, 1/2 Roasted “Beer Can” Chicken and NY Strip Steaks. There are also selections of sauces and other additions from Crab Legs to Jumbo Lump Crabmeat and Asparagus for just a little extra. The other entrees offered range from just $13.00 to $16.00, which includes Herb Crusted Tilapia, or Pesto Roasted Salmon to Shrimp Fra Diavolo and more. Bottled Wine Service is also available for your dining pleasure. On this dining out, my Waitress, Gail was superb, very friendly and was quick bringing out my entire meal.  I ordered the Tomato and Mozzarella Salad ($5.00). It was presented beautifully, with Slices of Hothouse Tomatoes, Buffalo Mozzarella, Bermuda Onions, Topped with Basil Pesto, and a Balsamic Glaze. It was simply delicious and very fresh. My entree was the Chicken Piccata ($14.00). The Chicken Breasts were pan seared and placed on top of Mashed Potatoes, with Wild Mushrooms, Asparagus, in a Lemon Butter Sauce. It was fantastic! The chicken was so tender soaked up in that sweet and buttery sauce-it just melted in my mouth. There is also a kids menu and desserts too. This place is definitely worth checking out-once you do you will keep on coming back! The Rhawnhurst offers some sweet specials too! On Fathers Day, Dad gets to eat for FREE, all day long from 12pm to 8:00pm! ON Memorial Day Weekend, Friday to Monday evening come out for their All U Can Eat Hard Shell Crabs and other food and drink specials! Every Monday Buy one entree get the next one 1/2 off! Tuesday it’s 1/2 price Burgers, Wednesday, it’s All U Can Eat Hard Shell Crabs and staying with tradition every Thursday is the Seafood Bash- Crab Legs, Mussels, Clams, Shrimp, Scallops, Corn on the Cob, steamed in a Spicy Broth with dipping Bread! YUMM!  The Rhawnhurst is open 365 days a year! Bar hours are from 11am to 2am, and the kitchen is open daily from 4:00pm to midnight, except for some special occasions! For more information please visit their website at For private parties please contact Christian at (215) 745-4341.

P1110070Have you ever been to a local eatery that offers everything…Good food, a great staff, reasonable prices and a relaxing atmosphere?  Well if that is what you are looking for, Maggie’s Waterfront Café located at 9242 North Delaware Avenue in NE Philly offers ALL of this and more!

Maggie’s is the type of place that is going to appeal to everyone.  It is located right on the Delaware River and it’s wide open doors in front are perfect for indoor dining, while getting a good look at the river views.  If you prefer to dine al fresco with the river breeze softly touching your shoulders, Maggie’s patio is NOW OPEN!  The crowd at Maggie’s tends to be the 30+ crowd with lots of families, couples and people who are just simply looking for good food and drink at reasonable prices.  During this tough economy, Maggie’s has really made an effort to keep their prices low, while still serving quality food.  I met with owner and proprietor, Kevin Goodchild who also owns Goodchild’s Repair Center on Wissinoming Street in NE Philly.  “We offer good food at good prices.  It’s something I am very proud of,” Kevin told me.  One of the biggest hits at Maggie’s has been their kids menu, which offers the choice of a Mini Pizza, Grilled Cheese, Chicken Tenders or Mac & Cheese, along with fries and a drink for just $3.99.  The rest of their menu offers something for everyone.  From Soups, Salads and Appetizers to Sandwiches, Burgers and full entrees, Maggie’s Waterfront Café can keep all the members of your family happy without breaking the bank.

We dined there last week and enjoyed the Crab-stuffed Filet Mignon and Chicken Florentine, both served with creamy, red bliss mashed potatoes and crispy seasonal veggies.  The filet and the chicken were cooked to perfection, tender and full of flavor.  Both dinners were just delicious!  Maggie’s offers plenty to choose from for meat and seafood lovers alike! Some of the menu favorites are items such as the Creamy Crab Soup for $4.99, or the Bronze Shrimp Appetizer for $8.99.  Other menu favorites are the Cajun Perogies which are sautéed with onions and delicious Cajun spices, the Mesquite Chicken Spring Rolls loaded with chicken, bacon, cheddar cheese and onions & served with pepper jam, and their yummy Jumbo Lump Crab cakes.  Dining at Maggie’s is just like being down the shore in an open air setting where you can enjoy various beef, chicken and seafood dishes.  Some of the more popular Spring and Summertime favorites are the Steamed Mussels and Clams, Beer Battered Shrimp and Blackened Scallops, just to name a few.  And nothing is better than taking in the sites and sounds of being near the water, while washing down some mussels or clams with an ice cold beer…..ahhhhhh!  I have been there many times for dinner myself & the food and service are fabulous!

Every day of the week Maggie’s offers some sort of special.  They have an “Everyday Lunch Special” that runs from 11 am – 3 pm where you can get any sandwich on the menu, Maggie’s Famous Seasoned Fries, a choice of Soup or Salad and a drink for just $7.77 – now that is a LUCKY DEAL!  On Monday, come in and enjoy $2.00 Yuengling Pints and All-U-Can-Eat Mussels for just $9.99.  Tuesdays from 7 pm – 10 pm get any appetizer ½ off, $2.00 Coors Light Pints and enjoy Karaoke from 9 pm – 1 am in the bar.  Wednesdays is Quizzo Night from 8 – 10 pm with all kinds of prizes, $.35 wings, $3.00 Twisted Teas or Smirnoff Ice and $2.00 Miller Lite Pints.  Thursday its Pick-n-Peel Shrimp Night – $6.99 for a ½ lb of yummy shrimp or you can opt for Dungeness Crabs at just $10.99 a lb!  Get a Sam Adams Seasonal Pint with them for just $3.50 and you’ll be happy as a clam!  Friday and Saturday nights offers Maggie’s DJ Dance Party from 10 pm – 2 am and great drink specials all night.  Sundays it’s the Oldies Dance Party with OOT’s own Mikey V from 4 pm – 7 pm.  Come out and enjoy your Sunday afternoon while feasting on great food and drink specials outside on the patio.  Monday through Thursday you can also take advantage of Maggie’s Early Bird Dinner for just $8.95 and Monday & Tuesday its Maggie’s 2 for $20 dinner special from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm.  Happy Hour is Monday through Friday 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm where you can get $2.00 Domestic bottles and pints, well drinks and select appetizers.

Maggie’s is also home to many private parties and events.  The outdoor patio is a wonderful place to host a benefit, shower or birthday party.  My friends and I put together a benefit last year at Maggie’s and Kevin’s Event Manager, Darlene made it so easy.  They were really wonderful to us.  Maggie’s is the place every summer for many Police and Fire events, too.  In fact, coming up on 5/14 they will be hosting the Philadelphia Firefighter Benefit featuring live music by Split Decision and Saturn.  Tickets are on sale now, so get yours before they are gone and support your local Firefighters!

I give Kevin and his staff A LOT of credit.  They have created a wonderful place for families and people of all ages to dine, unwind and just enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Delaware River in a safe and wholesome environment.  Maggie’s offers value for your money and a place to feel welcome whether you come in alone or with a group of your friends.   It’s a viable business, employing many hard-working people that support their own families, thus adding economic growth to the area.  All of us at The Out on The Town wish Kevin and his staff much success in the many years to come for Maggie’s Waterfront Café!
